Space for your future @MOT

東京都現代美術館で昨日から開催の「Space for your future」。「アートとデザインの遺伝子を組みかえる」という視点で、建築家・ファッションデザイナー・写真家さん達の作品が展示されています。
石上純也の「四角いふうせん」は高さ19mの空間に浮遊する巨大アルミニウム。SANAAの「フラワーハウス」は新しいカタチの家を提案。私が感動したのがバーバラ・フィッセルの「俳優と詐欺師」。月の土地を売ろうとした男の人と、俳優のやりとりが2面のスクリーンで上映されています。これは面白かった！

"Space for your future" exhibition started at MOT yesterday. The theme is "Swapping of the DNA of Art and Design" and architects, fashion designers and photographers were showing their pieces. Unfortunately they aren't many discriptions in English.
"Square baloon" by Junya Ishigami and "Flower house" by SANAA were amazing. My favourite was "An actor and a swindler" by Barbara Visser. It was a short film, images were projected on both sides of the screen. The comvasation goes on with an acter and a man who tried to sell pieces of lands on the moon. I found it very funny!

GVGV 2008 S/S

天王洲アイルの FORMで行われたGVGVのショー。会場ではたくさんのモデルさんやスタイリストさんを発見！GVGVは大人気のブランドなんだけど、イメージを固定せずに、トレンドを発信しようとしているところが素敵だと思います。そして実際に着ることができるデザインと価格帯。
今回のコレクションは、青・ピンク・黄緑のカラータイツとか、光沢のある素材や、蛍光色が光ってました。ローマ帝国チック(？)なブーツも素敵。来年の春夏は、こんなビビッドな色の洋服を着てみたいですね。

GVGV's show was held at FORM at Tennozu-Isle. GVGV is one of Japan's hottest design teams, very popular with models and stylists. They don't stick to one image, and instead always show new looks, that's what I like about them.
In this show, a lot of vivid flourescent color caught my eyes. And Roman style boots were quite cute. I would love to wear something bright this spring but have to get through the winter first...

皇居 / Imperial Palace

日曜の午後(10am~3pm)の皇居周辺は、自転車天国。自転車オタクから、ママチャリライダーまで、思い思いのスピードで楽しんでいます。私はマイチャリだったけど、貸し自転車もあるみたい。
車がないと空気もきれいだし、自転車でスイスイ走れて気持ちが良い!日比谷方面には東京タワーの姿も。この季節、都会のど真ん中でサイクリングするのって楽しいです。

Sunday afternoon (10am~3pm), the road is closed to trafic leaving free for cyclists around Imperial Palace. From serious cyclists with their expensive bikes to mamachari (shopping bikes) riders enjoy cycling there. There is a place where you can rent bikes.
The road is not very busy so you can go quite fast, although you have to stop by signals for pedestrians. It is nice to cycle in the middle of Tokyo with views of Tokyo tower.

駒沢公園 / Komazawa Park

セレブなイメージのある駒沢公園。東急田園都市線の駒沢大学駅から歩いて10分くらい。平日の昼間だというのに、犬を連れたマダム(コマザワンヌ？)や学校帰りの子供達などで賑わっていました。
公園内にはジョギングコースやドッグランの他に、競技場や体育館など面白いデザインの建物がありました！上の写真は芦原義信さん設計のオリンピック記念塔。コンクリートを重ねていった感が素敵でした。

Komazawa Park is 10mins walk from Komazawa Daigaku station. It was pretty busy for Wednesday afternoon, packed with house wives with thier little dogs and students playing after school. I saw some skateboarders practicing their tricks.
In the park, there are some interesting looking stadiums, as well as jogging course and playground for dogs. Olympic memorial tower (pictured above) desgined by Yoshinobu Ashihara really stands out in the middle of the park.

武家屋敷 / Samurai House

加賀百万石の前田家に仕える侍達の武家屋敷。中でも野村家跡は、その庭がとあるガーデニングの雑誌で「日本で3番目に美しい庭園」に選ばれたほど。段差のある池が印象的なお庭で、とても美しい。狩野派の有名な画家が描いた見事な襖の絵や、2階の茶室など、趣きのあるお屋敷です。
今回の旅で、私、金沢が大好きになりました！

I visited one of the samurai house, the family of Nomura. Its garden was chosen as the third best garden in Japan by an English gardening magazine. It is a small but impressive garden with ponds with different hights. In the building, fusuma, sliding thick paper door drawn by famous artist from Kano school was amazing. There is a tea house upstairs where they offer maccha tea.
I really love Kanazawa!!!

忍者寺 / Ninja-dera Temple

「忍者寺」という名前に惹かれて訪れた妙立寺。見学するのに予約が必要で、でも当日でも受け付けてもらえました。約40分程のガイド付きのミニツアーで、まるで迷路のような建物をくまなく見ることができます。一見普通の2階建ての建物が、実は7層4 階からなり、23の部屋と29の階段そして2つの落とし穴が仕組まれています！ここは本当にオススメ！

Myoryu-ji temple is known as Ninja-dera and I was attracted by its name so decided to visit there. I needed to book the tour to go in, but they accepted me booking on the day. The tour with a guide last for 40mins (it is only in Japanese but there were English leaflet which explain everything they says). It looks like a normal two storys building from outside but there are 23 rooms, 29 stairs, and 2 hidden pits in the floor. This is the place to go if you like ninja kind thing.

金沢21世紀美術館 / 21st Century Museum

金沢に来た一番の目的金沢21世紀美術館は建築家ユニットSANAAによるデザイン。今はちょうど、日比野克彦さんのプロジェクトで壁一面が朝顔でおおわれていました。
「金沢の包み紙展」や「パッション・コンプレックス」等が開催中で、どれも素晴らしかったです。直島に行って以来大好きになったジェームズ・タレルによる「タレルの部屋」や、レアンドロ・エルリッヒによる「スイミング・プール」には、ただただ感動でした。

21st Century Museum is the reason I came to Kanazawa. It is designed by an architect duo SANAA. The building wall was covered by Asagao, morning glory at the moment.
All the exhibition such as "Kanazawa's wrapping paper collection" and "Passion Complex" were great. My favourite were "Turrell's room" byJames Turrell and "swimming pool" by Leandro Erlich, which were permanent collection. I loved everything about this museum!
