渋谷駅 / Shibuya Station

安藤忠雄さんデザインの渋谷駅が今日オープンです。地宙船が中にすっぽり入ったイメージで、吹き抜け部分もあり。電車から出る熱や、空気の循環を利用して温度調節を行う、という環境に配慮された設計だそうです。今日は東京メトロ・副都心線の開通でしたが、2012年には東急東横線との直通も開始されるそうで、ますます便利になる渋谷。そしてますます混むだろう渋谷。
でもこんな面白い駅だと来るのも楽しいし、何気に使える東京メトロ・副都心線。地下鉄利用者としては新宿三丁目と渋谷のつながりが嬉しいかぎりです。

Shibuya Station designed by Tadao Ando is opened today. Ando designed the station look like an underground spaceship and there is a big atrium. The station is eco friendly, using the heat from the train and air circulation to control the temperature. Today, only Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin line is open but in 2012, it will be connected to Tokyu Toyoko line.
Shibuya will be more convenient but much busier.
It is nice to visit the station like this and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin line is very useful for metro users. It covers from Shibuya to Shinjuku 3-chome where Isetan is.

TOKYO CITY VIEW

六本木ヒルズの展望台東京シティビューの屋上に出られるようになっていました。ヘリコプターの発着スペースなど、間近で見ることなんてないので感激。でも下の階の屋内の展望台の方が、景色に迫力があって良いなぁと個人的には思いました。
東京タワーにはオリンピック誘致キャンペーンのため「2016」が点灯中。東京はやっぱり夜が一番きれいです。

Visitors can go out on to the roof of Roppongi Hills TOKYO CITY VIEW now. It was exciting to see a helicopter port so close. But I think the view from the observatory inside is more impressive.
Tokyo Tower is lit up with "2016" as a part of Olympic campaign. Tokyo looks the best at night.

ターナー賞の歩み展 / Turner Prize Exhibition

とても楽しみにしていた森美術館の「ターナー賞の歩み展」へ。1984年から2007年までの受賞作品がずらりと。ターナー賞自体についても詳しく説明されていて、勉強になりました。欲をいえば、ノミネート作品が展示されていたらもっと面白かったかも。
デミアン・ハーストの牛の親子とも5年ぶりに再会！理屈ぬきに、いつ見てもすごいなぁと思います。水槽や中身のホルマリンとか牛とかは飛行機で運んで、専門のスタッフが日本で組み立てた、というのもすごい話。こんなに多くの人に見られた牛もないんじゃないのかな。

I was so looking forward to going to "A Retrospective Of The Turner Prize" at Mori Art Museum. Turner Prize winner's works from 1984 to 2007 were displayed. It would be nicer if the nominees' works were also exhibited.
I met Damien Hirst's cows again after 5 years. I get amazed every time I see it. The cage, cows and formalin are transported separately by a plane and have been built here. This must be the most viewed cow in the world...

国立新美術館 / The National Art Center

国立新美術館で開催中のアボリジニの画家、エミリー・ウングワレー展へ。エミリーはおばあちゃんになってから初めて絵筆をとり、亡くなるまでの8年間で3000点以上の作品を描いたそうです。彼女の故郷の村やヤムイモ等が、とても豪快に自由に描かれています。
でも疑問に思うのが、これはエミリーにとってアートだったのか、子孫に村の歴史や物語を伝える文学(のようなもの)だったのか。もしかしたら絵の中に私たちには読めない色んなメッセージが含まれているのかもしれない。アート、というよりは伝統工芸のような趣きがある気がします。いずれにせよ、彼女の絵を通してアボリジニの文化を見ることができるのは良いことです。

An Aboriginal artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye's exhibition is held at The National Art Center. Emily started drawing on canvas in her 70s and made more than 3,000 pictures in her last 8 years. Her paintings are very dynamic and free.
I wonder if she saw her work as art or some kind of novel to tell her children about her stories. There might be some message hidden in the paintings. For me, they are more like traditional craft. Anyway it was good to have a chance to see Aboriginal culture through her work.

Wine Tasting

リッツカールトン東京で行われたモエ ヘネシー社のワインテイスティング。世界各国のワインがあって、色々楽しめました。少しずつ、色んなワイナリーのワインを飲んでいたら、終わりの時間にはかなり酔っぱらいに。ワインについて難しいことはわからないけど、どちらも美味しかったです。

I went to The Ritz Carlton, Tokyo for wine tasting night organised by MHD. There were many kinds of wine from all over the world. I tasted them little by little but at the end of the night, I got pretty drunk. I don't know much about wine but everything I tried was quite nice.

CHANEL MOBILE ART

ずっと楽しみにしていたCHANEL MOBILE ART。代々木公園の一角に現れた移動式の美術館で、2年かけて7カ国をまわるそうです。建物はザハ・ハディドのデザインで、貝のような蛇のような感じ。
中に入るとヘッドフォンを渡されて、ナレーションに従って展示を見て行きます。作品から商業的な香りがプンプンしたのは否めないけど、モバイルアートというもの自体が面白い試みだと思います。無料で入れる上(チケットの予約は必要)、帰りには写真集のようなおみやげまでいただけ、かなり嬉しかったです。7月4日まで開催しているのでお早めに。

I was looking forward visiting CHANEL MOBILE ART. It is a mobile museum and goes around 7 countries in 2 years. The pavilion is designed by Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid and it looks like a shell or snake to me.
In the pavilion, I was given a headphone and followed the recorded commentary. The artworks are quite commercial (all about CHANEL handbags) but mobile art itself is an interesting idea. It is free to get in (need to book a ticket) and exhibition catalog is given by the exit. It ends July 4 so don't miss out!

代々木公園 / Yoyogi Park

晴れた日曜日の代々木公園は色んな人がいて面白い。ロカビリーの兄さん達が踊ってたり、太鼓たたいてる軍団がいたり、大音量で音楽やってるバンドがいたり、タップダンスやってる人がいたり、ゴミ拾いしてるメイドがいたり・・・。公園は日なたぼっことか読書とかに行くものだと思っていたけど、東京ではそんなことないらしいです。
そしていつ見ても美しいと思える代々木体育館(写真下)。丹下健三さんの建築の中で一番良いと私は思います。屋根が素敵。

There were so many people in Yoyogi Park on this sunny Sunday. Rockabilly dancers, bongo players, bands playing loud music, tap dancers, and amazingly some maids picking up rubbish on the ground... I always thought of parks as a place to chill out but it is not the case in Tokyo.
By the way, Yoyogi gymnasium (pictured left), designed by Kenzo Tange, is nearby. I really like this building.
