上野 / Ueno

電車の乗り換えで降りた上野で、ル・コルビュジエ設計の国立西洋美術館(写真上/左)を発見。世界遺産への登録を申請中だそうで。今日は残念ながら閉館だったけれど、明日から「ウルビーノのヴィーナス」展が開催されるようです。
その目の前にあるのは前川國男による東京文化会館(写真右)。一瞬こっちがル・コルビュジエ建築かと思ったけれど、前川さんはル・コルビュジエの事務所で働いていたことがあるそうで納得。色んな美術館や建築物があって、上野公園って面白いんだということに気付いた一日でした。

I got off Ueno station to change trains and found The National Museum of Western Art (pictured above) designed by Le Corbusier by chance. Unfortunately it was closed but the La Venere di Urbino exhibition will start tomorrow.
And there is Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (pictured right) designed by Kunio Maeda who worked for Corbusier in late 20's. Ueno Park has some nice museums and interesting buildings.
