淀橋教会 / Yodobashi Church

Yugeのショーが開催された「ウェスレアン・ホーリネス淀橋教会」は新大久保駅の近くにあります。稲冨昭さんによる建築で、外から見るとなんでもないのに、中に入ってみると美しい曲線の天井や窓が！とても広々とした空間で、一番高い天井にある窓が十字架の形を作っていて素敵でした。
本物の教会の礼拝堂をファッションショーに使うのを、教会が許可したことに驚きです！

Yodobashi church is located in Shinokubo, near JR station. It designed by architect Akira Imadomi. The outside lookes like an ordinary buildng but when you go in, you see beautiful ceiling and window. The chapel is very specious and the window on the high ceiling made a shape of a cross.
I was surprised that the church gave permission to hold a fashion show in the chapel!

Yuge 2008 S/S

昨日、8/30にウェスレアン・ホーリネス淀橋教会で行われたYugeのショーを見に行きました。「モンテカルロのリゾート」がテーマになっていて、奇抜なスタイリングが楽しめました。パステルカラーのストライプとか、全身ぎらぎらゴールドのコーディネートとか面白かったです。私の好みではなかったのが残念だったけど・・・。

I went to see fashion show by "Yuge" at Yodobashi church. The therme was "American princess enjoys her summer vacation in Monte Carlo". The clothes weren't my cup of tea but I enjoy the styling, pink stripe dresses and metaric gold outfit.

Frida

ジュリー・テイモア監督のよる映画フリーダ。私は画家としてのフリーダ・カーロに興味があったので観ましたが、その映像の美しさには目を見張りました。ブラザーズ・クエイによるアニメーションもあり、とてもアーティスティックな作品です。
自分の体の痛みや心の苦しみを、全部絵にぶつけたフリーダ。かといって彼女の人生は決して悲観的だったわけではなく、そこには全てを受け入れ、全てを楽しもうとする彼女の意志がありました。本当に感動的なストーリー、素晴らしい映画です。

I watched Frida, a film directed by Julie Taymor because I was interested in Frida Kahlo's life as an artist. But the film was surprisingly good, one of the best film I've ever seen. There were animation by Brothers Quay in the film, which was very artistic.
Frida suffered from constant physical pain from her broken spine and leg but her life wasn't all pessimistic. She acccepted the way she was and tried to keep going as much as she could. The story was really inspiring. Great film.

YOKOHAMA

横浜美術館で開催中の「森村泰昌ー美の教室、静聴せよ」を見に行ってきました。モリムラさんの西洋美術史のセルフポートレイト作品を中心に展示されていて、授業形式でモリムラさんの声を音声ガイダンスで聞きながら作品を見ることができます。モナ・リザやオランピア等の名画の被写体になったモリムラさんならではの作品の解釈が勉強できて面白いです。
それから横浜港の大さん橋を散歩しました。ここは建物のデザインが素晴らしくカッコイイ。赤レンガの倉庫を眺めながら飲むビールは美味しかったです。

I went to Yokohama to see the Yasumasa Morimuya's exhibition at Yokohama Museum of Art. The exhibition had 7 rooms focusing on Vermeer, Gogh, Rembrandt, Mona lisa, Flida, Goya and Mishima. We follow the exhibition with an audio with Morimura's explanation on each room. It is interesting to hear his opinion about those artists and how he created his work.
And I visited Yokohama International Passenger Terminal. The building is designed by FOA. It is such a cool place. The view looking over Yokohama is also beautiful and I enjoyed drinking beer at the roof cafe.
