Le Corbusier Exhibition @ Mori museum

森美術館で開催中の「ル・コルビュジエ展：建築とアート、その創造の軌跡」。建築家の展覧会は展示が難しいと思ったのですが、彼がデザインした建築物を3Dの映像で見る事ができたのには感動しました。黄金比を多用したデザインや、実現されなかったものまで幅広く展示されていて勉強になります。
森美術館の一番いい時間が夕暮れ時。展示を見た後、展望台でだんだん街にあかりが灯ってくるのを眺めるのが素敵です。東京は夜景が一番キレイです。

"Le Corbusier : Art and Architecture - A Life of Creativity" exhibition is on at Mori Museum. It must be difficult to explain archtecture but I was amazed by this exhibition. They created 3D films about his warks, even ones that were never built.
I recomend you to visit this museun is late afternoon. I like looking at out over the city when everybody turns thier lights on. Tokyo looks the best at night.

FASHION MAGAZINE

東京都写真美術館で開催中のマーティン・パー写真展。彼自身が1冊のファッション雑誌を作るという構成になっています。ビビッドな色使いが印象的で、イギリスらしい皮肉っぽさが垣間見れて面白い。既存のブランド広告に手を加えて作られた、”マーティン・パー”バージョンの広告が良かったです。
残念だったのは、思ったより展示点数が少なかったこと。逆を言えば、それだけ彼の作品が素晴らしかったということですね。

FASHION MAGAZINE, Martin Parr's exhibition is held at Tokyo Metoropolitan Museum Of Photography. This exhibition is about making a fashion magazine by himself.
The photos are very vivid, a lot of red and yellow and gold. And I could see English sarcasm in them. It was pity that there aren't enough photos exhibited, 110 pieces are not enough to show his work.

夜のポエティズム @UPLINK FACTORY

渋谷のUPLINK FACTORYで7/14に開催された夜のポエティズム。今回のテーマは「かわいいだけじゃない。ロシア・アニメーション」でした。言葉で説明するのは難しいんですが、メッセージ色が強いものから酔っぱらいの狂騒まで、アニメーションを中心にレアな映像が面白かったです。
「ロシア」というと私には未知の世界だったのですが、美味しいVODKAが飲みたくなりました。

There was "Russian Animation Night" at UPLINK FACTORY in Shibuya last night. I never had a chance to watch Russian animation before so I was impressed by its standard.
They made me want to drink good vodka.
There will be another animation night on 11th Aug. Rare American animation will be shown.

THE TOKYO LOOK BOOK

「世界のオシャレは東京から生まれる」という副題がついています。
①渋谷ギャル　②サブカル系　③原宿ストリート　④キレイめお姉さん　⑤働くメンズ、という５つのカテゴリーで、おそらく2006年冬〜2007年初春に撮影されたストリートスナップです。カテゴリーを横断したストリートファッションや、東京の若者の生態が見えてきて面白い。ヤマンバ(もはや死語)ギャルズ＆ギャルオさんから、コスプレキッズまで、東京のファッションの懐は深いです・・・。

THE TOKYO LOOK BOOK says Tokyo is a place where fashion around the world starts. Is it true or not?
This book divides Tokyo Fashion into five categories. The photos of people in the shopping district of Tokyo were taken from the winter 2006 to early spring 2007, I think.
It is amazing to see all different kinds of fashion and young people's life and culuture. Some of them made me lagh. This book will give you some idea about what the people in Tokyo are like.

Galleries @Kiyosumi Shirakawa

清澄白河の倉庫(写真左)の5〜7Fにこのギャラリーはあります。「本当にここ？」という感じなのですが、1Fに案内の人がいるので安心。上へいくと、業務用エレベーターやレトロな階段(写真下)からは想像もつかないギャラリースペースが広がります。
小山登美夫ギャラリーで開催中の「Evan Penny」の展示(〜7/28)は必見です。顔の皺、髪の毛の流れ、背中のしみなどが異様にリアルな胸像、その内の一つは左右から押しつぶされ、上下に引き延ばされており眩暈をおぼえます。一度見たら忘れられない迫力があります。

There are five galleries in the warehouse(pictured above) in Kiyosumi Shirakawa. Information Desk is on the ground floor so you can ask him or her how to get upstairs.
Evan Penny exhibition is on at the Tomio Koyama Gallery till 28th July. He makes realistic bust with wrinkles on the face, real hair growth pattern and blotches on the back. One of them is streched vertically which made me dizzy. Once you see his work, you can never forget about it.

Tokyo Wonderwall

トーキョーワンダーウォール公募2007の入選作品の展示がMOTで7/8まで開催中。入賞作品は都庁に展示されます。新進美術作家の作品発表の場としての公募展。
内野清香さんの、人が写っていないポートレート作品「portraits」や、日置智哉さんの「M.J0611」(写真上)など印象的な作品が約90点ほど展示されています。
絵画・写真・立体作品という色んな形態のアートが、入賞という形で優劣がつけられていて複雑な気持ちに。芸術は人それぞれが感じるものだと思うのだけれど、やはりどこかで認められなければいけない部分もあるんですね。

Tokyo Wonderwall 2007 exhibition is on till 8 Jul at MOT. This was a competion for upcoming artists. Some of them are chosen to display their work at Tokyo Metropolitan Goverment Office. One artist gets one month for his or her exhibition.
「portraits」by Kiyoka Uchino and 「M.J0611」(pictired above) by Tomoya Hioki were nice. More than 90 works were shown so it was interesting to see new ideas.
Artists don't get much support from the goverment in Tokyo, I think. But hopefully there will be more opportunity for them in the future.

iPhone

日本への上陸が待ち遠しいiPhone。もはや携帯電話の域を超えています。アメリカの発売開始から1週間、何台売れたんでしょうか？少なくとも年間400万台は売れると予測しているようですが・・・。
ところで、日本は携帯電話先進国です。イギリスではほとんどの携帯にインターネットが付いていません。カメラが付いているだけで「おぉ！」となるくらい。ウィキペディアによると、アイルランドでは「もしかしたら死者が蘇生したときのために」携帯電話を死者と一緒に埋葬するそうです。本当かな？

I can't wait for the iPhone to come to Japan! It has been one week since it was released in USA. I wonder how many iPhones have been sold already. Apple expects to sell 4 million this year.
By the way, Japan's mobile phones are so advanced. We can use internet, watch TV, pay bills with them. They are not only for business people but for anyone. Wikipedia says in Ireland, they bury a dead person with a mobile phone just in case he comes back to life... Really?
